Description
Wenshi ziliao (文史资料) are open-ended local history collections published across all administrative levels in China, first organized under the Political Consultative Conference beginning in 1959; estimates place the total at 80,000–100,000 volumes spanning the late imperial through contemporary periods. Table of contents indexes covering approximately 500,000 articles from around 1,250 documents are freely accessible — no subscription or login required — through Princeton University’s East Asian Library digital repository at https://dpul.princeton.edu/ealtoc, searchable by administrative level (with some exceptions, such as Xinjiang); underlying PDFs can also be downloaded for local use. Note: online full-text access currently remains available only for a limited subset of volumes.
