Description
The Modern Urban Tabloids Database, developed by the Urban History Research Group at the Institute of Modern History (Academia Sinica), compiles digitized images and bibliographic metadata from 13 urban tabloid newspapers published in Shanghai and Suzhou during the Republican era, comprising approximately 890,000 records. Opened for public use in 2015, the database supports research on urban social and cultural history, and includes material documenting civil life in Suzhou during the Japanese occupation.
